Our CEO, Dr Sundram joined as panellist for the session on “Driving Food Security and Food Systems Resilience” at the ASEAN Food & Agriculture Road to COP28 Workshop Series with focus on Vietnam. My main message was that smallholder farmers and indigenous people who depend on agriculture are most vulnerable to climate change. Technology, digitalisation of farming, strengthening supply chains and minimising post-harvest losses are vital for building sustainable and resilient food systems. Credit financing is key for this. Vietnam plans to achieve net zero and increase renewable energy production to 70% by 2050. Laudable goals, and I wish them the very best in transitioning from coal-fired plants to renewables.
